& Pharma Translation

When your audience is a specialist, the language has to work as hard as the science. A clinician reading translated content is not just reading words. They are assessing whether the argument holds up and whether they trust the product behind it.

Healthcare and pharma translation for medical publishers, life sciences companies and pharma marketing teams.

A leave piece promoting a drug to specialists will be read by people who know the clinical evidence better than the copywriter who wrote it. A drug monograph translated with ambiguous dosage language creates a risk that no marketing team wants to carry. A medical journal article that loses its precision in translation loses its authority. The reader notices. In healthcare and life sciences, the cost of getting translation wrong is rarely just a reprint.

Most translation agencies can produce medically accurate copy. Fewer understand the difference between content written for a regulator and content written to persuade a specialist. That distinction matters. A leave piece needs to make an argument. A monograph needs to hold up to scrutiny. A pharma advert needs to move someone who has seen a hundred of them. Getting any of those wrong is not a translation failure. It is a commercial one.

When the reader knows more than the translator

A doctor reading a translated leave piece will immediately sense when the linguist does not understand the therapy area. The terminology may be correct but the clinical reasoning feels off. That loss of confidence in the translation becomes a loss of confidence in the product. We match linguists to projects on medical subject knowledge, so the argument holds up to the scrutiny of the people it needs to persuade.
Card 1

Promotional content that persuades, not just informs

A leave piece translated accurately but without understanding its persuasive purpose reads like a summary rather than an argument. Healthcare professionals receive a great deal of translated content. The pieces that work are the ones that make a case in the target language, not just restate one from the source. That requires a linguist who understands what the content is trying to achieve.

Transcreation when translation is not enough

Some pharma content cannot simply be translated. A campaign concept built around a specific cultural reference, a tone that only works in English, an advert whose impact depends on how the words sound rather than what they mean. When that is the content, transcreation is what is needed. We have transcreated pharma advertising for VCCP, working across multiple medical product campaigns where clinical precision and creative impact both had to be maintained.

Medical publishing that meets peer scrutiny

Medical journals and clinical publications are read by people who will assess the quality of the translation as well as the quality of the science. A translation that loses precision, introduces ambiguity or adopts the wrong register for a professional readership undermines the publication's authority. We translate for Elsevier and the European Medical Journal, where those standards are non-negotiable.

Consistency across documents that cannot afford errors

A drug monograph can run to hundreds of pages. A clinical white paper references the same compounds, mechanisms and endpoints throughout. A single inconsistency in terminology across a document of that length creates confusion, invites challenge and raises questions about the process behind it. We build a glossary before every project and apply it without exception, including across updates and revisions.

Confidentiality for commercially sensitive content

Pre-launch drug data, clinical outcomes and competitive marketing materials are among the most sensitive documents a company produces. A breach at the translation stage carries the same risk as a breach anywhere else. Every project is managed under NDA with restricted access and secure file handling, to the standards major pharmaceutical companies require.

Pharma advertising that works in the target language

A medical product advert has to carry clinical authority and creative impact at the same time. Losing either produces something that either fails to persuade or fails to be believed. We have transcreated pharma advertising scripts for VO recording for VCCP, across campaigns where both had to be right.

Deadlines that fit drug launch schedules

Drug launches, congress presentations and campaign rollouts operate to fixed schedules that cannot move to accommodate a late translation. A missed deadline does not just delay the translation. It delays the programme. A dedicated project manager owns every project from brief to delivery and keeps translation on track against your timeline from the start.

Your content, translated

Healthcare and pharma translation across every content type.

From clinical journals to pharma advertising, each piece of healthcare content has a different job to do. The linguist needs to understand not just the subject but what the content is trying to achieve.

Promotional
Leave Pieces

Leave pieces promoting drugs to doctors need to make a clinical argument in the target language, not just repeat one in translation. A piece that loses its persuasive force has failed its purpose, regardless of how accurate the terminology is.

Drug
Monographs

Long, technically dense and read by specialists who will notice every inconsistency. Drug monographs require linguists who understand pharmacology and the discipline to maintain precise, consistent terminology across a document of significant length.

Medical Journals
& Publications

Clinical articles and medical journals are read by peers who will assess the quality of the translation as well as the science. We translate for publishers including Elsevier and the European Medical Journal, to the standard their readership demands.

White Papers &
Clinical Evidence

White papers and clinical evidence documents make the case for a treatment, device or approach. The argument has to be as clear in German or French as it is in English. Imprecision in a white paper invites challenge.

Medical Education & Training

HCP education and sales training materials need to communicate complex clinical information clearly and consistently. A training module that confuses its audience defeats its purpose. We translate medical education content to the standard it needs to be used in the field.

Pharma Marketing Campaigns

Marketing campaigns for healthcare products often require transcreation rather than translation. A campaign concept that works in English may need significant creative adaptation to carry the same weight in another market. We work with pharma companies and their agencies on both.

Pharma Advertising & Voiceover

Pharma advertising copy has to work creatively as well as clinically. A medical product advert that loses its impact in translation has failed regardless of its accuracy. We transcreate advertising scripts for VO recording, working with voice artists to deliver copy that carries the same creative weight and medical precision in the target language. We have done this for VCCP across multiple medical product campaigns.

Webinar & Medical Event Subtitling

Medical webinars involve highly technical spoken language, delivered at speed by specialists who assume shared clinical knowledge. Subtitling this content accurately requires a linguist who understands the therapy area, not just the words. We have subtitled medical webinar content for the European Medical Journal, where the clinical detail is significant and the margin for imprecision is zero.

Healthcare Websites & Digital Content

Healthcare websites and digital platforms communicating with professional audiences in multiple markets need the same precision online as in print. A clinical claim that reads ambiguously on a website carries the same risk as one in a printed document.

Medical Device Communications

Marketing and communications content for medical devices needs to be accurate, clear and appropriate for the professional context in which it is read. We translate device marketing and communications for companies including GE Healthcare.

Pharmaceutical and healthcare companies communicate across multiple markets simultaneously. A European drug launch may require translation into ten or more languages at the same time, with each version accurate, consistent and appropriate for the professional audience in that market.

We translate into all major pharmaceutical and healthcare markets, with native-speaking linguists selected for their medical and life sciences subject knowledge. Glossaries and translation memories travel across every language version to ensure consistency throughout.

Your questions, answered

What healthcare and pharma
clients ask us about translation

Healthcare and pharma clients come to us with specific questions: do your linguists understand the therapy area? Can you handle transcreation as well as translation? What about confidentiality? We have answered the most common ones below.

How do you handle confidentiality for sensitive pharma content?

Pre-launch data, clinical outcomes and competitive marketing materials are commercially sensitive. Every project is managed under NDA, with access restricted to the project team and files handled securely throughout. We are experienced in the confidentiality requirements of major pharmaceutical companies and apply those standards as a matter of course.

What is the difference between translation and transcreation for pharma content?

Translation transfers meaning accurately from one language to another. Transcreation goes further, adapting the creative concept, tone and persuasive approach so the content works in the target market rather than simply existing in it. Pharma marketing content often requires transcreation: a campaign that works in English may not carry the same clinical authority or emotional appeal in French or German without significant creative adaptation. We do both and advise which approach each project needs.

Can you handle multilingual pharma campaigns across multiple languages at the same time?

Yes. European and global drug launches routinely require simultaneous translation into multiple languages, each version consistent with the others and accurate for the professional audience in that market. We manage multilingual projects through a single account manager, with shared glossaries and translation memories ensuring consistency across every language version.

Do you translate regulatory documents, MHRA submissions or clinical trial materials?

Regulatory and clinical trial translation is a highly specialised discipline with its own compliance requirements and quality standards. It is not our area of focus. Our expertise is in pharma marketing, medical publishing and life sciences communications content for professional audiences. If regulatory translation is what you need, we can point you towards specialists in that area.

Do you translate drug monographs and other long technical documents?

Yes. Drug monographs and clinical white papers are among the most technically demanding documents we handle. Length, density and the need for absolute consistency throughout make them a significant project management challenge as well as a linguistic one. We build a comprehensive glossary before translation begins and apply it across the entire document, including any future updates or revisions.

Can you translate promotional content for doctors and other healthcare professionals?

Yes. Promotional content for HCP audiences is one of our core areas of work. Leave pieces, detail aids, congress materials and medical education content for professional audiences all require a linguist who understands both the clinical subject and the promotional context. We have worked on HCP-facing content for clients including Bayer and GE Healthcare.

Do your linguists have medical or scientific backgrounds?

Yes. We select linguists for healthcare and pharma projects on the basis of subject knowledge as well as language skills. A linguist translating a cardiology leave piece needs to understand the clinical argument, not just the terminology. We match every project to a linguist whose background fits the therapy area and the type of content involved.
