Luxury Hotel Brochure Translation for COMO Hotels and Resorts
Translating sensory hospitality copy into nine languages without losing the feeling of five-star.
COMO Hotels needed brochures that felt as polished in Japanese and Russian as they did in English. Brightlines translated and artworked luxury hospitality marketing across nine languages, handling three different writing systems and delivering publication-ready layouts.
The challenge
COMO's hotel brochures carry the brand. They are the first physical touchpoint for guests considering a stay, and they need to communicate the character of each property: the light, the setting, the experience. Luxury hospitality copy is full of sensory language, carefully chosen words that evoke atmosphere and exclusivity. That kind of writing falls apart in a literal translation. Get the tone wrong and a five-star brand reads like a two-star one.
COMO needed those brochures to work across nine languages, including Chinese, Japanese and Russian. That meant three different writing systems with different typographic conventions, different text lengths and different layout requirements. A brochure that looked elegant in English could look cramped or unbalanced in German or Japanese without careful typographic handling.
Our approach
We paired translators who specialised in luxury hospitality with in-country editors who adapted the copy for each market. The translators captured the meaning; the editors made sure the result felt native, not translated. For languages where the sensory register works differently, we rewrote rather than forced a literal equivalent. The goal was always a brochure that read as though it had been written for that audience.
We also handled all multilingual DTP and artworking in-house. Latin, Cyrillic and CJK scripts each have different spacing, line-break and typographic conventions. We managed the layout for every language variant, delivering publication-ready page proofs so COMO's team did not need to coordinate a separate production step.
